the best way i found to learn is to hire a guide. i am cheap so i hang out at a bait shop and listen to everything, and ask questions.

If you're down near Portland at all, the Columbia river is great. Runs start happening soon. The Deschutes is really good too. Up near Seattle are a number of rivers, but not sure which are good.

Where can I find a great resource for Washington State Salmon fishing basics for a rookie?
I am traveling to Washington State to see some family and have always dreamed of catching a Salmon on the river. I would prefer to not have to pay for a guide if possible.
